Hardwood Lake is located in Michigan's Ogemaw County near the communities of Prescott and Skidway Lake. The lake is located mostly in northern Richland Township with a small portion extending into Logan Township.
The 172 acre lake has 102 properties. The south shore is mostly open land and features a 40 unit campground and a DNR boat launch. State boating laws apply to the lake.
The Hardwood Lake Improvement Board oversees weed control on the lake.
